Maripat has been in the mortgage and title insurance business since 1998, ending up there by accident. For 17 years she was a photographer, but had a serious back injury (in 1996) that sidelined her for 3 years. A friend, who was the state manager for Allied Capital Mortgage Corporation, offered her a job working for his company. Through that contact she became interested in title insurance. Maripat started working for Penn Suburban Abstract in 2001 and became a licensed title insurance agent in 2003. In 2006, Maripat left Penn Suburban to run American II Settlement in Upper St. Clair.
Born in Chicago Heights, IL, but raised in Coraopolis, Maripat moved freequently. She has lived in San Juan, Porto Rico, Washington D.C., Jacksonville FL, Cleveland OH, Buffalo NY and Rodanthe NC. Maripat moved back to the Pittsburgh area in 1996, landing in Moon Township in 2003 where she shares a condo with her two cats, Izzie and Callie.
Maripat enjoys riding and showing her Morgan stallion Falcon, in dressage.
